Dubbed ‘The Pink City’ by locals due to the bloom of the Ipe trees, Pocone is a small but charming town resting amidst the lush and diverse terrain of the state of Mato Grosso in Brazil. This picturesque town is the ideal launching point for visitors wanting to explore the Transpantaneira, a 150-kilometre stretch of dirt road linking Pocone to Porto Jofre. A nature enthusiast’s dream, Pocone is a gateway into the spectacular Northern Pantanal, a flourishing area famed for being the world’s largest tropical wetland region. Acting as a refuge for some of the most iconic wildlife, the Pantanal invites visitors to admire its magnificent concentration of wildlife which includes the hyacinth macaw, the world’s largest parrot. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a rigorous hike or a leisurely cruise along the beautiful Cuiaba River.

Day Itinerary

Day 1 …. / Cuiabá / Pousada Piuval

Arrival in Cuiabá. Welcome by one of our team members at the airport. From here we will start our amazing trip to the wetland. We drive to Poconé and follow the Transpantaneira road, the only all-year route that penetrates the heart of this enormous wild land. We continue our trip to our first lodge. Lunch is included this day either on route or at the lodge depending on your arrival time. In the afternoon, our first activity would be canoeing. Dinner is served at the lodge. Overnight Pousada Rio Claro (L, D)

Overnight : Pousada Piuval

The Piuval Lodge is located 110 km from Cuiabá and 10 km from Poconé in the state of Mato Grosso. It is the first lodge along the Transpantaneira Highway, which begins in Poconé. The lodge is situated on a 7000-hectare cattle ranch with one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Pantanal. At this lodge tourists can observe the abundance and diversity of Pantanal flora and fauna.

The lodge has 20 guest rooms with air conditioning and ceiling fans, private bathrooms, TV, W-Lan, minibar and screened-in windows providing fresh air. The fully screened restaurant serves typical Pantanal meals. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, volleyball court, playground, and a souvenir shop.
